ABC Community Network (ABC) is a registered Charity and community development organisation working with over 180 voluntary and community groups and their members across the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council area.
ABC was established in 1996 and provides a range of physical support services and practical assistance for existing and emerging groups. Membership is free and open to all fully constituted community and voluntary groups. ABC works to ensure the needs of local communities are represented to public bodies, local and regional authorities and government. ABC also articulates member’s needs through active participation as a member or partner on a range of public and representative bodies within the southern area and at a regional level.
In March 2016 ABC’s new Community Hub, Magharee House, 82 Thomas Street, Portadown, was officially opened. The larger, refurbished and fully accessible premises enable the organisation to further develop support services for its partner organisations and member groups
ABC was the catalyst in creating a new permanent local community radio station ABC 100.2 FM which broadcasts from the heart of Portadown across the Craigavon area and beyond. The station brings wide benefits to local people, including training and work experience opportunities, and providing a voice to those, such as older people or speakers of minority languages, who often have difficulty accessing the media.
